Bolt Locks, Surface Bolts & Auxiliary Locks
Bolt locks are the supporting cast: they hold the inactive leaf of a French door, secure a gate, or stop a door being lifted off its hinges. Cheap to fit and disproportionately useful.
We fit surface and flush bolts to French and double doors so the inactive leaf is genuinely fixed rather than just closed, hinge bolts to outward-opening doors so the pin side cannot be attacked, and drop bolts to gates.
None of these replace a deadbolt. They close off the specific weaknesses a deadbolt does not cover, which is why they are usually fitted alongside one rather than instead.

Common questions
Do I need bolts if I have a deadbolt?
On a single door, usually not. On French doors, absolutely: without flush bolts the inactive leaf is just leaning there.
What is a hinge bolt?
A fixed pin in the hinge edge that drops into the frame when the door closes, so pulling the hinge pins does not free the door.
Can bolts be locked from outside?
Surface bolts are inside-only by design. For an outside-lockable gate you want a padlock or a keyed gate lock instead.
