Fifteen years of Austin doors, cars and 3 a.m. phone calls

Capital City Locksmith started in 2011 with one van, a set of picks and a phone number that went to a person instead of a voicemail box. The city has roughly doubled since then. The phone still goes to a person.

We are a mobile outfit, not a storefront. That is deliberate: a shop full of stock does not help you when you are standing in a parking lot on Riverside at midnight. What helps is a stocked van, a technician who has seen your lock before, and a price you already agreed to.

Why the trade has a reputation, and what we do differently

You have seen the ads. Nineteen dollars, all makes, all models. Then somebody arrives, drills a perfectly good deadbolt, and hands over an invoice with three more digits than the ad. That is not a locksmith, that is a call-centre lead sold to whoever is nearest.

We give you a real number on the phone. We open before we drill. We put the price of parts on the invoice as line items. And we ask everybody, without exception, to prove they belong on the other side of the door — because a locksmith who does not ask is a locksmith you should be worried about.

What we cover

Emergency lockouts for homes, businesses and vehicles. Rekeying and lock installation. Car keys cut and programmed on site, including all-keys-lost work. Ignition repair. Master key systems, panic hardware and door closers for commercial buildings. Safes and key safes.

Geographically that means Austin and everything within about an hour: Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Leander, Lakeway, Kyle, Buda, Hutto, Manor and Dripping Springs, among others.

Licensing

Texas requires locksmith companies and their technicians to be licensed through the Department of Public Safety. We hold a company licence, every technician carries an individual licence card, and we carry general liability insurance. Ask to see any of it — at the door or before you book.

how we work

Four rules we do not bend

We quote before we drive

Every caller gets a service fee and a labour range up front. If we cannot price it blind, we say that too.

The lock leaves working

Non-destructive entry is the default. Drilling is a last resort and it gets discussed first.

Licensed, carded, insured

Texas locksmith company licence, general liability cover, and a licence card in every tech's pocket.

Proof of ownership, always

No exceptions, not for anyone, not at any hour. It is what makes calling us safe.

how it works

Booked in a phone call,
done in one visit

Three steps, no surprises. The number you hear on the phone is the number on the invoice, or we explain the difference before we start.

  • You call and we quote

A person answers. You describe the door or the car, we give you the service call fee and a labour range.

  • A licensed tech rolls

You get a name and an honest arrival window. Every van is stocked for the common jobs.

  • Fixed, tested, invoiced

We open, rekey or replace, test the door or key in front of you, and email an itemised receipt.
