Sliding Patio Door Locks — Capital City Locksmith

Sliding patio doors fail in two ways: the little latch in the handle wears out, and the whole panel can be lifted out of its track. A broom handle in the channel solves neither properly.

We replace worn mortise latches and handle sets, fit foot bolts and auxiliary pin locks that go through the frame, and add anti-lift blocks in the upper track so the panel cannot be raised clear of the rollers.

Keyed handle sets are available where you want the door to be a genuine exit as well as an entrance, and we will point out when a keyed patio door becomes an escape problem rather than a security gain.

What the job involves

  • Anti-lift blocking

Stops the whole panel being lifted out of the track.

  • Foot bolts and pin locks

Through the frame, not just into the handle.

  • Worn latches replaced

Rather than propping the door with a stick.

Common questions

Is a bar in the track enough?

It stops the door sliding. It does nothing about the panel being lifted out, which is the more common method.

Can you key the patio door to my house key?

In many cases yes, depending on the handle set. Ask when you book and describe the door.

My slider is heavy and drags. Is that the lock?

No, that is rollers. We can tell you what it needs even though roller replacement is not our trade.
