Residential Locks Supplied & Fitted — Capital City Locksmith

Residential hardware is where people quietly overpay for the wrong thing. A hundred-dollar deadbolt in a jamb held by half-inch screws is not more secure than a forty-dollar one. The install matters as much as the lock.

We fit Grade 3, Grade 2 and Grade 1 hardware depending on the door and the budget, in the finishes people actually want rather than whatever is left in the warehouse. Everything gets three-inch screws into framing, not just into trim.

If the existing hardware is sound, we will tell you that too. Rekeying a good lock costs a fraction of replacing it, and there is no reason to sell you a box you did not need.

What the job involves

  • Graded hardware, honestly explained

What Grade 1, 2 and 3 actually mean for your door.

  • Fixed into framing

Three-inch screws through the jamb into the stud on every install.

  • Repair advised where it is cheaper

We will say when a rekey beats a replacement.

Common questions

What grade of lock do I actually need?

Grade 2 covers most homes comfortably. Grade 1 is worth it on a door that takes abuse or on a rental with heavy turnover. Grade 3 is fine for interior and low-risk doors.

Can you match my existing finish?

Usually. Satin nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, matte black and polished brass are all stocked in common patterns.

Do you fit hardware I have bought myself?

Yes. Labour only, and we will flag it before fitting if the item is not right for the door.
