Mailbox Lock Replacement — Capital City Locksmith

Mail theft is a real problem in growing suburbs, and mailbox locks are small, cheap and easy to neglect. Replacing one takes minutes and closes off a route to your bank statements.

Individual mailboxes at the kerb, wall-mounted boxes and cluster box units all take standard cam locks that we stock. The lock comes out, a new one goes in, and you get two keys.

Cluster boxes owned by the USPS are a different matter: only the Postal Service can change those. Privately owned CBUs in an HOA or apartment complex are ours to work on, and we will tell you which yours is.

What the job involves

  • Two keys with every lock

Cut on site, extras a couple of dollars each.

  • Kerbside, wall and cluster boxes

Standard cam locks stocked on the van.

  • Honest about USPS boxes

If it is Postal Service property we tell you, rather than taking your money.

Common questions

Who owns my cluster mailbox?

If the Postal Service installed and maintains it, only they can change the lock. If it belongs to an HOA, a landlord or a management company, we can.

How long does it take?

Ten to fifteen minutes for a straightforward box, plus the drive.

Can you match it to my house key?

No. Mailbox cam locks use a different keyway entirely, so it stays a separate key.
